Heavenly Father, You hear the cries of the afflicted and You do not turn from them. Fill us with only the fullest things, a love that is perfect and pure, grace freely given and hope not diminished by the suffering of this world.
Lord You are theme of our praise. and we ask that You would Set our minds upon Your holiness each day; Let those who lead in Your church be mindful of the covenant You began with Abraham and fulfilled by Your own sons death and resurrection, that You will be our God for all generations and we will be Your people.
May Your righteousness be known in the land where all is forgotten and Your wonders in the darkest night. In the same way that You call things that are not as though they were, call us from sin to righteousness that we may walk before You blamelessly.
Genesis 17:1-7, 15-16
Teach me this day to discard my shame
and reveal to me the wonder of a death that covers all transgressions
Confirm in me the plans You have set before me
That I may sing of Your glory throughout the earth
Lord teach me to truly bear my heart to You
Take away the fear of condemnation
For it is You who calls me to repent of my sins
There is no sin that you fear
and no act which You did not overcome in Your death
Let my words to You be honest
That I might know in the depths of my being
The power of Your forgiveness
Lord, You, who have wandered the desert and emerged without sin, Hear the prayers of Your people during this season of fasting and grant that we might grasp more fully the trials You faced when You became flesh.
Heavenly Father, we pray for Your holy church. We ask for wisdom amongst those who lead and humility for those who share Your word. Place your truth into each of our mouths that those who might be careless to things eternal would be awakened.
Lord, we pray for the nations of this world. May all leaders be filled with a spirit of truth, and may structures of oppression be torn down. Let Your righteousness flourish and Your prosperity abound and May peace fill every heart and food every belly.
Lord Your love is the everlasting in a world of temporary. Let this thought be our comfort as we remember now, those who suffer and those who have died. Pause. We ask that You would meet us in our lingering, our longing and our grief. In Your time move our minds to the world as it is now, even as we long for what has been. Bring us to a place of rest and peace.
Almighty God, there is no where we can go to flee from Your spirit, and no where we can hide to escape Your presence. In our deepest dark, You see the light that we cannot and in the truest of our revelations to You, You never turn from us. Let us not despair in our weaknesses Lord, but instill in each one of us, the truth that we walk in Your light.
We ask all these things through Jesus Christ our Lord
As dusk gives way to night, count each of our thoughts as you count the stars
Take from them the darkest and ugliest
But leave the pure and true
As I sleep restore my spirit to Yours
That I may awaken more fully in Your image
You O Lord hold the depths of the earth within Your hands, how much more do You hold the depths of Your peoples despair?
Teach me to praise You in the fullness of pain, and to be ever watchful of Your glory
Share the secrets of Your love and bestow it upon those who trust You in their weakness
Bind our hearts to Yours, that we may be sustained and sheltered by Your love
Lord, re-centre my being on You.
Remove the burden of my conceit and free me from the pull of my own vanity
Draw me from my own desires to the glory you have laid out in the foundations of the earth.
Catch my eyes today with the beauty of Your creation and pull my sight away from my self
Off the created and to the Creator.
